I heard an audible gasp when my eyes held you
As my breath quietly escaped and bid me adieu
I cannot begin to tell you exactly what it was
But I can still feel the soft winds swirl around us
Perhaps the way my thoughts entangle dreams
It reveals the things that so often make me weak
Perhaps it’s your closed eyes and wind-swept hair
Or even the way the sun’s soft light quietly stares
Whatever it may be it seems to always call me back
Just so I can imagine the beauty of the naked canvas
Naked Canvas
I heard an audible gasp when my eyes held you
As my breath quietly escaped and bid me adieu
I cannot begin to tell you exactly what it was
But I can still feel the soft winds swirl around us
Perhaps the way my thoughts entangle dreams
It reveals the things that so often make me weak
Perhaps it’s your closed eyes and wind-swept hair
Or even the way the sun’s soft light quietly stares
Whatever it may be it seems to always call me back
Just so I can imagine the beauty of the naked canvas
